Rosins are discussed frequently in string instrument forums. Unless the musician performs on a reasonably high skill level (AMEB Grade 3 and above) the choice of rosin has less weight. The student rosin that is offered on this site (in its white plastic container and white plastic lid) is a good choice for violin, viola and cello players. It is not too hard and not too soft.
